Our History

Burt Clifford started Clifford Produce in 1929 as one of Southwestern Ontario's original produce suppliers. In the early days, Burt distributed field produce that included onions, potatoes, carrots and tomatoes.

When Burt retired in 1976, 10 local growers came together to purchase the business, keeping its name as a tribute to his success. The new owners became the first generation of greenhouse growers, adding greenhouse produce to field produce, to acquire the benefits of year-round production.

In April 2009, an additional 10 shareholders joined Clifford Produce. This increased acreage significantly, making Clifford one of the top growers of premium greenhouse produce in North America.
